She looked up at me from the couch, she was sitting near the edge of the couch, with her hand covering her mouth, her elbow resting on her leg.

“Well … he’s definitely not a normal cat”

“Yea, you could say that again”

Ryuk poked his head into the door way, to see what was happening.

“He’s got no where to go, I found him in a box”

She looked at Ryuk for a moment.

“*Sigh*, your father isn’t going to be happy when he comes home, but I guess he can stay, but your father will have to make the decision, and if he says yes, he’s your responsibility alright?”

“Yes!, thank you mom”

I ran and hugged her, as soon as Ryuk saw me do that he ran up to her and did one of his tackles on her.

“Ah!!”

She was flat on her back and Ryuk was rubbing his face against hers.

“Ryuk!, what are you doing?”

He turned his head towards me, his tail swishing side to side.

“I think he needs a bath”

I went up to sniff him and she was right, he does need a bath, why didn’t I notice the bad smell before?.

“I’ll show him how to work the shower”

I took Ryuk’s hand to lead him towards the bathroom.

“Okay, you go right for cold water and left for hot water, do you understand?”

He had a really confused face, *sigh*, looks like I’m going to have to ask mom to help him wash.

“I’ll be right back, umm…mom, it seems he doesn’t know how to work the shower or how to clean himself”

She was still sitting on the couch, she sighed , then got up off the couch.

“Alright, I’ll go help clean him”

“Thanks mom, I’ll borrow some of bro’s clothes”

She nodded at me then turned to go towards the bathroom.

“Alright Ryuk here I come!”

Mom closed the door and I was off finding him some clothes that will fit him, I found a plain white shirt with short sleeves, and a pair of denim jeans that look a little bit big for him. So I found an old belt that Kairi doesn’t wear anymore.

“Hey!, what are you doing in my room?”

That’s my brother Kairi, he’s 161cm tall, has brown hair and blue eyes he has his right eyebrow pierced and has a toned body. He’s the third child in our family, my older brother and sister are some where in this world, last I heard of them, they were in Germany and I’m the baby of the family.

“Oh, I’m borrowing your clothes for Ryuk”

“Who?”

“Oh…that’s right you just got home, Ryuk’s our new cat”

I had a big grin on my face, he stared at me confused.

“What!, why does a cat need my clothes for??”

“Well you see …he’s no ordinary cat Kairi”

I was playing with the belt I had just found in his draw. He kept staring at me trying to work it out in his head, as he walked towards his bed.

“What are you on about??!”

“Just go look in the bathroom, mom is helping him clean himself”

He gave me a weird look, then he left the room, I could hear him walking towards the bathroom. Then I heard a knock, knock, mom let him in and 3 seconds later.

“What the hell!, that’s not a cat!, it’s a guy!!!”

“Ryuk wait!!”

I got up off the floor and walked towards the door and peeked my head around the door towards the bathroom. Oh My Gosh!!!, Ryuk was running towards me, nut he was naked!. He tackled me yet again.

“Ryuk!, your naked!, and you’ve got soap all over you!”

He lifted his head at me, he had tears in his eyes and he was shaking.

“Ryuk?, are you alright, did Kairi scare you?”

He put his head down and squeezed me around my waist.

Mom came out with a towel in her hands.

“Ryuk, here put this on”

Mom put the towel on him and took him back to the bathroom, to finish bathing him, I could tell he didn’t want to go back, his ears flopped down. Poor Ryuk, he must of gotten a big fright, Kairi had walked back to me and watched Ryuk go back to the bathroom.

“Kairi!, what’s wrong with you!”

“That’s not a cat, it’s a dude!”

He had his index finger pointing to the bathroom. I put my hands to my head massaging it.

“Look at his head and back please!”

“Why do I have to look at his head and back for?”

“Would you please go look!”

“Ok…ok, calm down, calm down, I’ll go look”

He turned around and went back to the bathroom, this time he didn’t scream or yell, he came right back out”

“……!!”

“Yes they are real”

“How?!!”

“I don’t know, I found him in a box on the way home”

“In a box?”

“Yea, and I felt sorry for him so I brought him home and mom said he can stay, but he’s my responsibility”

“You always feel sorry”

“Well at least I have a heart”
”ok …ok, what’s his name again?”

“Ryuk, I gave him that name, cause he didn’t have one”

“Huh, ok I guess I don’t mind if he stays with us”

He was looking towards the bathroom, with his left hand scratching the back of his head, his right hand on the side of his waist.

“Cool”

“By the way, you better change your clothes or you might catch a cold”

He was pointing at my clothes, I looked down and my school clothes were all wet. Ryuk!, he wet my clothes when he tackled me to the ground. I really hate when he does that, *sigh*.

“I’ll go change”

I went in to my room and put on a pair of jeans and a long sleeved red shirt, when I finished getting dressed, mom was finished cleaning Ryuk.

“Where’s the clothes for him?”

“Oh, they are still in Kairi’s room”

I went and got the clothes for Ryuk, mom got him dressed, I had to admit he looked even cuter than before, and he smelt really good.

“Yuki, we will have to go shopping tomorrow to buy some clothes for him and some underwear too”

“Oh ok…wait!, I can’t Ren and I were supposed to go shopping tomorrow”

“Well…looks like you will have to take Ryuk with you. I’ll give you some money to buy him some clothes”

No ways!!, I can’t do that!”

“Why not?”

“If Ren saw him…I don’t even want to think about what she’ll do to him!”

I covered my eyes with my hands trying to block out the image of what my best friend would do to poor innocent Ryuk.

“Ah!, don’t be silly, she won’t do any thing to him”

“Mom!!”

“Yuki, you are taking him with you tomorrow, end of story!”

“Fine!”

My arms were folded and my cheeks were puffed up.

“But I Warned you”

She just shook her head at me and went to make dinner.

“Oh, I almost forgot to tell you”

“What?”

“Well it seems Ryuk belongs to someone after all”

“What!!!”

“When I was giving him a bath, I saw that he has a collar on him”

“He does!”

I looked at Ryuk straight away, he was sniffing the clothes mom had put on him. I walked up to him and pulled down his shirt to see his neck, she was right he did have a collar on him. Why didn’t I see it before?. It looked tight on his nec, I tried to pull it loose, but I couldn’t even make it move. It was right on his neck, as if someone glued it there. There was a silver plate on it, but instead of a name there were numbers on it. 0001, that’s all it had.

“0001?, why is there numbers on it?”

“Don’t ask me, you’re the one who found him remember”

“Yes!, I know that, it’s just weird to call someone 0001”

“I guess he’s just a mysterious cat dude”

I gave Kairi a strange look.

“Hey, don’t look at me like that, you know I’m right and he is a cat dude”

“Whatever, is dinner ready yet?”

“No, not yet give it 10 more mintues”

*sigh*, I looked over to Ryuk, he had finished sniffing Kairi’s clothes, he started to walk over to me. He sat down on the ground beside my leg, and started to rub his head on my leg. Heh, I guess Kairi was right , he is like a cat, but also a dude at the same time. I started to stroke his head and he started to pur.

“Your too cute”

He looked up at me and smiled his angel smile at me, I just couldn’t help myself, I had to hug him. *Hug*, then I heard my father come in through the door. This is going to be interesting, I stood up to see him walk into the kitchen.

“Hey dad, you’ll never guess what Yuki brought home!”

He gave me a teasing look, great, thank you so much Kairi, I gave him a death stare in return.

“Hello Kairi, hello dear”

He gave mom a kiss on the cheek.

“Really now, what is it Yuki?, I hope it’s not another cat”

I went pale in the face, in the past I’ve tried to bring home cats from the street .

“Well you see, he’s no ordinary cat”

“No!!”

“But mom already said yes!”

He looked at her and she sighed.

“Yuki, just show him Ryuk already and don’t try and make me in trouble!”

“Heh, sorry mom, Ryuk come on stand up”

I grabbed his hand to help him get up. Once he stood up, my father’s face changed from angry to confused.

“That’s not a cat, that’s a boy!!”

“Here we go again!”

The First Encounter

The day was just like any other day, blue sky, cool breeze, birds singing, same old same old.

“Great another boring day”

Hi my name is Yuki Jade Allen, I’m 17 years old and I’m in my last year of high school. I have long brown hair and blue eyes, 159cm tall and average weight. Every day is the same, see the same people, go to the same boring school building, and sit in the same boring classes.

“Why can’t something exciting happen to me!!”

“Because it doesn’t work that way”

That’s my best friend Ren; she has black hair nearly to her shoulders. She’s 160cm tall and average weight as well and yes she does tease me for being just 1 cm taller than me.

“Okay miss smarty pants you tell me how it works then!”

“Well you can’t just sit around waiting for something to happen to you”

I hated to say it, but she was right for once.

“You gotta make it happen”

“Alright, alright I get ya”

She just smiled her winning smile at me; I just rolled my eyes at her.

“Well I’ll see you tomorrow, at the shops?”

“Yea for sure, wouldn’t dare to miss it”

She giggled at me.

“Bye”

I waved bye to her, her house wasn’t far from mine, as I started to think about, what I was going to buy tomorrow. I saw a huge cardboard box on the side of the path, one of those big plasma TV’s come out of, but that’s not what got my attention, there was some kind of black looking thing sticking out of the box. It was swishing up and down.

“Well that’s weird?”

As I got closer, it started to look…

“A cat’s tail?!”

Poor kitty, I guess I could give it one of my biscuits that I didn’t eat at lunch. I took out the biscuit, and bent down so I could see inside the box.

“Here kitty, I have a…!!!”

I flew myself backwards until I hit the wall, what the hell!!!, it’s a guy!, why the hell is there a guy in a box and further more, why the hell does he have a cats tail?!. Its okay Yuki, its okay, all you have to do is close your eyes and take a deep breath and you’ll be fine. Deep breath, blow out. But when I opened my eyes, he was still there.

“Okay Yuki, its alright, its probably fake, yea its fake, no way can a human being have a tail!”

I slowly got on to my feet, me eyes still on the guy. I walked slowly to the box, his tail still swishing up and down. When I reached the box, I slowly went down, resting on my knees. I leaned to the side, to check if he was still asleep, he was, his clothes were all dirty and full of holes. He’s kinda cute; he looks like an angel when he’s asleep. *Blush*, snap out of it Yuki, I looked down at his tail, gulp. Okay, I reached down to grab it, but I kept checking to see if he was still asleep. Go!, as soon as my hand made contact with his tail, his eyes shot open. He lifted his head and looked at me, I froze completely. My body just wouldn’t move, his ice blue eyes staring at me. Every women would fall in love with his eyes, but there seemed to be some kind of emptiness to them. Then I finally realized I was still holding onto his tail, as soon as I realized, I let it go.

“No way!!”

He just tilted his head to the side as if he was very confused with my reaction. Then he looked down at the ground, so I followed where he was looking. Oh my biscuit!, I picked it up and his eyes followed it.

“Umm… here, you can have it”

He took the biscuit from my hand, and sniffed it. He looked at it for awhile.

“You gotta bite into it”

He just stared at me, a very confused expression on his face.

“Like this”

I showed him how to bite it with my hand and putting it to my mouth, as if I was the one eating it. Then he looked at the biscuit and took a bite out of it. His eyes lighten up, and then he shoved the rest in his mouth. I guess he’s never had a biscuit before; I just sat there quietly and waited to see what his next reaction would be. After he finished eating, he looked up at me and smiled, it was a smile of an angel. I could feel my cheeks getting hot; I quickly looked away from him. Too embarrassed to keep looking at him, I peeked through the corner of my eye and he was still smiling at me. Then I looked up cause I saw something moving on top of his head. Ears!!!, he has ears too, I couldn’t believe my eyes, this guy has a cats tail and ears, I couldn’t help my self, I had to see if they were real too. So I stretched my hand out and touched them, they were warm and soft, as I was touching them, he started purring.

“Pffft”

I couldn’t help but laugh, I didn’t know if I was in shock or not, but he did look kinda cute.

“What’s your name?”

He just sat there looking at me and smiled again.

“Can you talk?”

He just kept smiling.

“Guess you can’t huh…well I’ll give you a name, does that sound okay?”

He tilted his head at me.

“okay let’s see…what could I call you , hmm…I know!”

He jumped a little with my sudden loud voice.

“I’ll call you Ryuk”

He blinked once at me, and then a big smile appeared on his face and jumped towards me, causing me to fall backwards.

“Oww!, my head!”

Then I realized he was on top of me, with his arms wrapped around me. What do I do, what do I do, he’s on top of me!, then out of no where. While I was stressing, *lick*.

“Whoa, what the hell!, you just licked me!!”

He sat up and looked at me, with a sad look on his face and his ears flopped down.

“*Sigh*, I’m sorry, I’m just not used to being licked by a guy, who also happens to have cat ears and a tail”

But he just smiled at me.

“You don’t have anywhere to go do you?”

He tilted his head to the side abit.

“Well…I guess you could come live with me”

It seemed his smile somehow got bigger and he tackled me again.

“Oww, okay, okay, that’s enough, I get it your happy”

Okay now I have to think of a plan to get mom and dad to let him stay with us.

“Let’s see”

I could tell them that I found a stray cat, but dad doesn’t like cat’s. I could say I found this cat, but it’s no ordinary cat, *sigh*.

“Come on, let’s go to my house”

I smiled at him, to help encourage him to move, he slowly got up, being aware of every thing around him. When we got to my house, I was the one who needed encouraging to move now. I took a deep breath and started to walk towards my door.

“Wait here okay!”

He just smiled his angel smile at me, how could they say no if they saw his smile. But some how his smile gave me the will power  to go through that door. I put my key into the door to open it, I took another deep breath, before opening the door just a little bit to see if anyone had noticed I was home. It didn’t seem like anyone did, so I quickly slid my self into the house.

“Stay right here okay, stay here!”

He just stared at me, wondering what I was doing.

“Oh hey Yuki, I didn’t hear you come in”

Oh crap, just the person I wanted to see me first, I turned around to look at her. When you first see her you would think she was 40 instead of 51, she has blonde hair, in a style of a bob. Average weight and 162cm tall.

“Oh hey mom, yea I thought no one was home. That’s why I didn’t say I was home heh”

She just stared at me as if I was up to something, I started to get nervous and she could tell.

“What’s going on Yuki?”

“Nothing, there’s nothing going on, what gave you that idea?!”

As soon as she folded her arms, I knew I was a goner.

“Okay, okay I give in, but you can’t get mad okay!”

“It depends on what you’ve done”

I took a deep breath.

“Okay, you see…I kinda found this cat…”

“Cat!, you know your father doesn’t like cats”

“I know, I know just let me finish”

She just stood there with an angry face, her arms still crossed.

“Well you see he’s no ordinary cat”

“What do you mean no ordinary cat?”

“I’ll bring him in but you can’t scream or make any loud noises, cause you will scare him okay!”

“Fine”

She stood waiting, but ready for what ever I was going to show. I went towards the door to call Ryuk to come in, when I opened the door, there he was playing with a butterfly. Trying to catch it, I started laughing and he heard me, he ran towards me and tackled me into the house.

“Whoa!”

There I was lying on the ground with a cat guy on top of me and with my mother standing right behind me.

“What is the meaning of this Yuki?!!!”

“Mom!, wait look closely at his head and back!”

She looked at me with a confused face at first, but when she saw his ears and tail, her eyes shot wide open.

“He’s got a-a-a”

“A tail and ears, I told you he’s no ordinary cat”

Ryuk lifted his head to look at her and she flinched a little back. Waiting to see what he’ll do next, but he just smiled his angel smile at her and then she just relaxed.

“I need to sit down”

Can’t blame her for her reaction, I mean I was in shock when I found out that they were real. As she went into the lounge, Ryuk was still on top of me.

“Hey Ryuk, you can get off me now, your really heavy!”

He got off of me and sat beside me still smiling, I got up to go check on mom.

“Mom?”

loneliness is all i feel, no one to comfort me at night, no one to talk to when the sun is bright. Why does this have to happen to me, why does it have to surround me. A dark black hole is all i see…will no one find me, help me….someone help me. Silence is all i hear, i can hear my breath, growing faster and faster as i sit in this darkness. Lonely….so lonely, where did everyone go?, why did they leave me alone. Did i do something bad, do they not like me anymore. Loneliness is all i feel….won’t you come and make me feel real??

My name is Tia Maria Steinzberg. When i was a small child, I would always be wondering off to see what was out there. I would always crawl into holes in the ground, to see what could be inside the darkness of the hole. My Mother would always scold me and say that she would get grey hairs before she turned 30. She would give out a big sigh, as I look up to her with my big teary eyes. There she stood in front of me with a warm smile on her face. She kneeled down to my height and hugged me. With a soft voice she said, “You really do take after Ellen”.

Ellen was my mother’s younger sister. She loved Ellen to death, when they were younger my mother and Ellen would play a lot with each other. Ellen loved to look and see what was in holes and any cave looking place. One day when Ellen went out by herself and fell inside a very old well, the doctors said she died instantly and felt no pain. Mother blamed herself for not keeping an eye on her, my mother was a very beautiful women, kind and warm to everyone. I could see my father near the front door, with his arms crossed and shaking his head at me as I approached towards him. He wouldn’t say anything, but put his large but warm hand on my head, as I looked up at him to see a warm but sad looking smile on his face. My Father was very handsome, every time my father took me with him to do the shopping all the older women would always start whispering to each other as we walked passed. My father just ignored it and carried on.

My father was very strong but always gentle with me, a very stubborn man he was. He always had to be right no matter who it was, the only person he would admit defeat was mother. We would always spend time with each other, but it all ended soon after my father got a promotion and started traveling over seas. My mother became a famous beauty therapist, so I didn’t get to see them very much any more. I was in primary school by now but before I started school, my mother gave me a very beautiful necklace. It was a heart shaped pendent, it had little diamonds on the edges and one big diamond in the middle. It also had little tiny wings made out of white silver. Inside was a picture of my mother and father in it, my mother was still pregnant with me at the time when they got the picture taken. She and my father were very young but still had their incredible beauty. The necklace had belonged to Ellen when she was still alive. ” trusting you to look after this necklace, ok Tia”

My eyes light up by the sight of the necklace, i looked up to my mother shook my head up and down very fast and with a loud voice i shouted “I will do my best”. So from then on i was always alone, because i was an only child in my family. So i didn’t know how to react to other children in school. I would always be alone when i was at home. I would always read books in my room, about explorers but the ones that got my attention the most, was about lost caves and the secrets that they contain. I also loved love stories, it was even better if it was also about exploring or the super natural stuff like they come from different universe or like a human and a vampire falling in love…”sigh” as if that would happen in real life. When I had entered grade 11 at Saint Ebony High School, nothing really had changed in my life. My parents were some where in the world doing what they loved. I could never let them know I was lonely and that I had no friends, I would tell them lies like i had a lot of friends and that I was happy. I could feel my soul dying inside my body, the thing that made me who I was. The loneliness was eating me up inside.

Like every other day i was eating lunch in the courtyard on the bench surrounded by deep red roses. They looked like the colour of blood, but still so beautiful to the eyes. When these two girls approached me, and asked if they could sit with me. I looked up at them with surprise; this was the first time anyone had asked me that. They were Emma Thompson and Mimi Nuttall, I recognized them instantly. They are both in my English and History classes, Emma is avery loud and energetic girl who loves to discover new things. She is willing to take on any challenge you give her, Mimi is very quiet and polite girl, she always keeps to herself, but she gives off an aura which makes you want to talk to her. She loves reading about adventures but most of the romantic type. They were both very beautiful girls, Emma has short brown hair that just passes her chin. With red streaks going right through her hair, Mimi has long blond hair that goes passed her shoulders. The straightest hair anyone could ever have.

Emma was still waiting for my reply “ummm…so is it okay?” she asked. I soon realized that I had been staring at them the whole time. I quickly looked down blushing,”I-I don’t mind” while i was still looking towards the ground. They both looked at each other and smiled, they both sat down on each side of me. Emma saw that there was a book underneath my lunch box, “what’s that you’re reading?” she asked curiously. I lifted my lunch box up to let her see the book, “i-it’s called the lost cave of Athlinthia” as i finished saying that, Mimi asked “what is it about?”. I looked up to her trying not to stumble on my words, “it’s about a cave that has a very dark secret hidden inside it”. As i finished I quickly looked back down to the ground, “Oh so you like fantasy novels then?” Emma asked so loudly that i nearly jumped off my seat. “N-no it’s not a fantasy novel”, “well what is it then?” Mimi asked ever so politely. I took a deep breath and said “it’s a documentary about a cave that they think is hidden some where inside of a forest but are not sure where exactly it is”.

“Oh” both in unison, “is it interesting?” Emma asked looking at the cover of the book. “Y-yes i find it veru interesting” I smiled to myself. Mimi then took the book from Emma looking at it very closely and then said “do you mind if I borrow it then?”. I just shook my head, she gave me a warm smile, as Emma was about to ask another question the bell went, I gave out a big sigh. What a relief, ” Oh man why does lunch have to be over I was just getting to know you”. As soon as I heard her say that I could feel that my body felt more alive then before as if , my soul wasn’t being eaten away anymore. Emma grabbed my hand and started to pull me towards our next class which was English, “come on Tia lets go together”. She had this huge grin on her face, I felt so happy when i heard her say that I could feel little tears rolling down my checks. Mimi smiled at us from behind, since that day in the courtyard for once I felt so happy again, a true happiness, the one I felt when I was still with my mother and father. My future had changed for the good or the bad?.

Walking down this path, ive never seen before, the texture of the sand underneath my feet is rough. It hurts to walk on it, looking through this trees ive never seen before, where am i, where is this place, where will it lead me. Is it wise to walk down a path never seen before, the air is cold, like ice as i walk on the path. Whispering….i can whispering, where is it coming from, i look around but all i see is trees. Then there was one tree that was white, i walk slowly to this white tree. Interesting, strange, yet so over whelming, this sensation, what could it be, i put my hand to my chest, so warm this feeling is so warm. What is this feeling i wonder?, what could it be called, ive never felt this way. Laughing i can hear laughing?….”Who’s there?, come out from where ever you are”, “I could tell you what you are feeling”. My head twisting and turning looking for the place where the voice is coming from. Then a glow, a white light appeared in front of me. I my my hand up to block the light from my eyes, then i could see a figure through my fingers, my hand falling slowly to my side. What is this?, she was see through, smiling at me. “Tehe”, she started to giggle at the expression on my face. “who are you?”, “I am the spirit of that tree..you do not know this feeling inside you?”. “No should i know it?”, she giggled at my question and came closer to me, putting her hand on my check,”It is called love…that is why its warm”, she smiled warmly at me. “How do you know this?”, “Cause I have had such a feeling along time ago…that is why i am waiting”. She moved past me facing the tree now, “waiting?, waiting for who?”, “Some one who was once very dear to me, the one that caused me to feel the way i do”. I only stared at her with my hand on my chest……love i started to walk along the path again leaving her to keep waiting for that person, that she loves. Love……huh

This is a story i would like to tell, a one-sided love, that i know too well, will you listen to my story?, hear what i have to say?. Or will you just walk away?I tell a story about a boy and a girl, one that everyone would know…for they have gone through this kind of hell. A girl who loves a boy but a boy who does not love the girl. Will you listen to my tale?.The girl is young but ordinary, she fell for a boy, who was her friend, smart and funny. It has been years now since then but her feelings have not end. Just to be near that boy, makes her feel so much pain. But she cherished this boys friendship, she told herself stop it stop it, why do this to your self, all you will feel is pain….and that little voice in her head was right, all she felt was pain. she knows the boy does not know what is going on inside, because she wears a mask around him..making the boy think shes okay that she just want to be friends…little does he know, how she really feels, how she wants to touch him, say things that only she could say to him, little does he know…the sadness growing inside of her…the pain…so much pain…

She can’t believe what they say,people that give her this false hope, trying to help so she thought,but little do they know of what was to come to her..more sadness and more pain, she might act happy on the outside to cover up the pain on the inside…how much longer must i live with this pain?, will it ever go away?, will it come with me when im dead?,how long?…how long will it be?, she said. She thinks to herself, sitting and thinking about what they’ve said. One day the girl decides, to find out if they are lies. She approaches the boy when he is alone, trying to hide her face from the boys eyes.
Is it true what they say?…do you like me that way?. Her head faces the floor, never to look at the boy at all.

Hahahaha…..are you that stupid to believe in what they say? Then the boy walks away, never to look her way. The girl stands still, still looking at the ground..her eyes wide with tears running down, why…why did i believe in what they say, i should of know it was not that way. She moves slowly away, never looking the boys way, for days and days the girl did not smile, she did not eat or sing a tune. Her eyes dead to the world, for her only love, crushed her will. Then one day the girl faded away, no one knows what happened to her, they say her sadness was so great, she walked into the darkness never to see light. For this was a story of a one-sided love, that only so many will know
